"White Spruce Grove" Plectrum

Serial Number 2004-008

This guitar is really stunning looking. I was just blown away when Bill brought it over finished the other night. The whole thing shimmers like a hologram (holograph?) when it is moved in the light. The quilting on the sides looks like it actually moves under the finish. It also sounds really good, which is really the most important feature of a guitar. Plectrum guitars in general do not have the depth of a standard guitar because of the missing 2 bottom strings, but the ones I've built so far have turned out really well for sound, even for rhythm in a Dixieland band. This is probably mostly because of the 17" body size which is not really typical for Plectrum or Tenor guitars.

  • 17 inch "Bennedetto" style cutaway body.
  • Hand-carved, X-braced Sitka Spruce top with really neat "bearclaw" that shimmers in the light.
  • Hand-carved bookmatched Flame Maple back with GGRM standard Walnut/Maple/Walnut veneer center stripe.
  • Flame Maple neck with veneer center stripe to match back.
  • Matched Quilted Maple sides.
  • Ebony peghead overlay with Abalone GGRM inlay.
  • Ebony fingerboard, fingerrest, tailpiece, and adjustable handmade bridge.
  • Double-bound f-holes, body, fingerboard, and peghead using Ivoroid/Black/Ivoroid binding.
  • Highest quality gold Schaller guitar tuners with Ebony buttons.
  • Gold neck and end pins.
  • 25" scale, very comfortable to play for Plectrum banjoists and guitar players
  • Professionally finished "Honey Amber" high gloss with McFadden's laquer by Bill Reinhart.
