Address Book Dialog

The Address Book is available only to users who have registered and paid the shareware fee. It is a simple "flat" database with a fixed number of fields visually arranged on the screen in a fixed format much like the information entered on an index card.

Import List Button
This button opens a dialog for you to select the method to use to import text data into your list. Importing data adds records to your current list - it does not start a new list.

Select Import Method Dialog

The Select Import Method Dialog allows you to choose how you want the go about importing the data from a text based data file. There are 2 import methods available and a choice of delimiters:

  • If you know for certain the order and type of fields in the file you are importing, you can select the Simple button.

  • If you have a "free-form" text file with data in it in no particular order with no definite delimiters, select the Complex button.

Most database or spreadsheet programs allow you to export data in a number of text formats. The format is based on "delimiters", the characters used to separate the fields of data. Each line of the data file has the same number of items separated by the delimiter character or group of characters. The File Type dropdown list allows you to choose from the most common of the text file format of the import file. If you are not sure of the format, you may be able to look at the file with an text editor like Windows NotePad (if the file is smaller than 32K), WordPad, or the old Windows 3.1 simple editor Write to figure it out.

Print List... Button
In addition to printing individual address cards, you can print the entire list displayed in the Address List listbox in a number of ways.

If a name is selected from the list while editing any of the fields, you will be asked if you would like to save the current card before getting the information for that name.
