Main Dialog

This is the main window of the Calendar program. The general operation of the program is similar to the calendar program that used to be included with Windows 3.1.

The first time the program is run a dialog will appear informing you that no calendar file could be found. Just click on OK and continue. If you add any information, you will be prompted to save your work in a new file when you exit.

The toolbar is new for version 7.0. It replaces the grid of buttons that used to be at the bottom of the dialog. A "tooltip" will appear when the mouse pointer is placed over each toolbar button. The order of buttons is:

Monthly View

Clicking View Year button on the toolbar changes the display to:

"Full Year" View

To edit and add notes for any date, double-click on the date or select the date and click on the Edit tool (pencil) on the toolbar. Or, you may type marks to appear on the date button directly into the top edit field and notes for the selected date directly into the large multiline edit field.

Right mouse button click on a selected date will display a pop-up menu. You may select Edit Notes... from this menu.

Notice the raised, colored numbers on the date buttons, and the "sunken" text on the month and year buttons. These effects can be selected from the Setup... button.

Notice also the areas where recurring date notes will appear on the main window. If a date is a recurring date, the notes for that date will appear in the bottom read-only edit field with an indication of the recurring frequency you selected when you set up the recurring date.

Notice the "Goto Today" option on the pop-up menu which appears when the right mouse button is clicked. This will allow you to return immediately to the present year, month, and date whatever date you happen to be looking at.

To change year, click on the up arrow next to the year button to advance one year or click on the down arrow to go back one year.

To change the month, click on the up or down arrow buttons as for the year or click on the month button to display a pop-up menu to select the month you would like to view.

You may double-click any of the full-month buttons on the full year display to set the month and automatically change the view back to that month. You may also toggle back and forth between the currently selected month and the full-year view by clicking on the "View ..." button. The text on the "View..." button will change to reflect the view which will be set by clicking on the button.
