Report Dialog

This dialog allows you to create and print reports of items you have entered as transactions on the Edit Date dialog. All transactions satisfying the text in the search fields and within the date ranges will be displayed below in the list control. In addition the numeric fields will be totaled and displayed at the end.

Report Setup
To create a report, type in a date range from which to select transactions to report on. The date range fields are the only required fields. They are saved to the Windows 95 Registry so that the next time the Report Dialog appears, they will be restored.

You may enter text into 2 search fields which correspond to the transaction Code and the transaction Description fields on the transaction side of the Edit Date dialog. The report function will search for transactions which contain the words, parts of words, or characters entered in these fields. They do not need to be an exact match. You may also select case sensitivity for each of the search fields.

If the Code field is left blank, all transactions containing the text in the Description field will be displayed in the report list. If none of the fields are filled in, all transactions within the date range are reported.

Report Print Options
You may set a few options for printing reports:

The heading edit control can be filled in or left blank. Text in the field will appear at the top of the printed report.

The checkboxes below the heading edit control allow you to selectively print any or all of the 4 columns of numeric information which may appear in the report. With the check box checked, the column will print, otherwise the column is left blank.

Notice the new month and date control for selecting the "Date from" and "Date to" edit controls.

Print To File
You may also "Print" to a file instead of your printer. This option allows you to save your report into a text file for importing into a database or a word processing document. When you click on this button, a dialog will appear for you to select the type of field delimiters you want to use. The choices are "Comma delimited", "Tab delimited", and "Quoted string with commas". These are probably the most commonly used database import formats.
