Special Operations Dialog

The Special Operations Dialog has 2 tabs: Merge and Clear

Merge

It is often desirable to merge calendar files which have been created separately. For instance, suppose you create a calendar file at work and another at home, and you would really like to have your work entered information available without having to load the work calendar. Using the Merge tab on the Special Operations Dialog you can now combine the two files.

The checkboxes allow you to include or exclude possible duplicate information which may appear in both calendar files on the same date. Also you may select whether to include or exclude recurring dates set up in the file to merge.

Merge Page

To perform a merge:

  1. Select the .cal file to merge into the currently loaded file. Click on the "File..." button to display a standard Windows Open dialog.

  2. Select the include/exclude options you desire. The default settings are not to merge the information. Checking the boxes means "yes" you want the information merged even if it duplicates information for a particular date.

  3. Click on the "Merge" button.
Clear

You can clear information from dates without clicking on each date to edit it individually and clearing the Marks and Notes. Transactions for that date are also cleared. The Clear page on the Special Operations dialog will allow you to clear all the information from a range of dates all at one time.

Clear Page

To clear a range of dates:

  1. Select the range type you want: "Before", "From-to", "After", or "Other" (So far just "Last year" or "This year").

  2. Press the "Clear" button. You will have the opportunity to cancel the operation at this point. If you hit "OK" on the warning dialog, the operation will proceed. All information within the range specified, including the dates listed in the corresponding edit control, will be cleared.

WARNING! This operation cannot be undone, so save your calendar file first. Then, if you make a mistake, you can re-load it.

Notes:

Recurring dates are not cleared since they are not associated with a particular date. However, recurring dates are cleared when "New" is selected on the main dialog.
